We asked ourselves: Could we recreate the soft, airy look of mohair—without using animal hair or wool—and with a material better suited to milder winters?
That question led us to focus on ATON, a 100% cotton loop yarn spun to mimic the textural beauty of mohair.
This season, we’ve expanded the ATON series with a new development: ATON BRUSHED. By applying a special brushing process to the yarn itself, we've achieved a fabric that offers the cozy appearance of warmth, easy care, and wearability that extends across seasons.

ATON features loops made from silver yarn of Supima cotton, an extra-long staple fiber known for its exceptional softness, lightness, and natural luster. Since its launch, it has often been met with surprise—“It doesn’t feel like cotton!”.
Encouraged by ideas to broaden the range of finishes, our development team moved beyond the garment-brushing techniques we’ve traditionally offered at MONTELUCE. Instead, we turned our attention to processing the yarn itself.
After a long period of trial and refinement, we perfected a method for delicately brushing the loops at the yarn stage.

The result is a fabric with the warmth and visual richness of animal fibers—yet breathable, lightweight, and ideal for today's milder winters. What’s more, it's hand-washable, making it a reliable companion for early autumn and beyond.
