DESCRIPTION

PAPIER56 is the world’s finest-gauge yarn, made by combining ultra-fine washi paper yarn with polyester. The washi originates mainly from conifer trees. Like humans, trees experience a slowdown in metabolism as they mature, resulting in reduced CO₂ absorption. Mature trees are responsibly harvested for use as building materials, and the offcuts are fully utilized to produce ultra-thin washi paper.

This washi paper is then processed into extremely fine yarn and blended with polyester. Using a patented machine that integrates slitting and twisting, the yarn is produced with stable quality and efficiency. The result is a high-gauge yarn that achieves strength and elasticity, a soft hand feel, and easy-care properties.

With its delicate, refined touch and sophisticated lightness that one would not expect from washi, it opens up a wide range of design possibilities.
